For over a dozen years, I was Programs Manager of Fort Meigs Historic Site, a War of 1812 battlefield and open-air museum. My primary duty involved the planning and management of the site's numerous special events and educational programs each year. Several large historical reenactments highlighted each summer season. Reenactors from around North America volunteered their time and talent to attend and help put on these special events attended by the general public. My job was to ensure the events were a smooth success.

Additional duties included managing educational programming for schools, groups, and the public. Other responsibilities included the hiring and training of staff and volunteers. The site saw paid visitation of about 30,000 people a year with supplemental site usage pushing approximately 50,000 visitors annually. Over 3,000 students from schools in a 150 mile radius attended educational programs at the historic site.

A major highlight from my time at Fort Meigs included the First Siege 1813-2013 Bicentennial Anniversary event and reenactment hosted in May 2013. Planning began several years in advance and over 650 participants took part in the activities. The massive event spanned three days and included three different locations within the community. Numerous partnerships with community organizations made the event a grand success and over 5,000 members of the public attended the historic event. The planning, logistics, and coordination that went into the event was a massive undertaking and, at times, was quite stressful. However, I am very grateful to have the experience on my list of accomplishments.
